“The Magic and Tragic Eights: Generational Reflections on 100 years of Czech History.”

Alice Lunakova will speak on the critical events in the last 100 years of Czech history. Each event has the common ground of occurring in a year that ends in eight.

Alice is a graduate student at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. She was an exchange student at McLennan Community College in 2014. The following year, she conducted research at the Czech Heritage Museum in Temple for her bachelor’s thesis.

After graduation, Lunakova presented her thesis on Czech immigration to Texas during the 19th century for a lecture tour which included the Czech Heritage Museum, Temple, , The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange, The Czech Center Museum in Houston, Texas A&M University and Baylor University.
